Hanford based group, Poor Man’s Poison, has advanced to the National Finals of the Texaco Country Music Showdown after winning the Western Regional Finals on November 10, 2012 at Mill Casino in Coos Bay, Oregon. The group will receive am all-expense paid trip to the National Finals in Nashville in January where they will compete with the four other Regional Winners on a Nationally syndicated television special for $100,000 and the coveted title, “Best New Act in Country Music.” Each year more than 50,000 artists compete throughout the U.S. Past winners include: Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Neal McCoy, Sara Evans, Brad Paisley and Billy Ray Cyrus.
Poor Man’s Poison, who performs all original music, recently returned from Guantanamo Bay Cuba, where they performed for our US Troops. Additionally, they have had the honor of performing at celebrity ECO events for Music Saves Lives. They also made history earlier this year, becoming the first local band to sell out the historic Hanford Fox Theater for a live performance.
